The fist game of the NWCL League season pitted the lady warriors of Sodium against Spokane Shadow. All the scoring came in the first half as Sodium's Aliyah Chance dissected the Shadow defense and found the far post with a decisive shot. Sodium defense was true to form and shut down any offensive threat.
The second match of the day found Sodium playing a very scrappy Washing Premier FC ENCL team. Sodium had no problems pacing themselves to a 2-0 victory. Dani Brown continued her scoring with the first and in the second half Aliyah Chance sent a beautiful cross to a crashing Emmy Owens who finished it into the net with authority.
In Sundays match Sodium faced Crossfire Premier ENCL. The first half found Sodium controlling play in the offensive third with numerous opportunities just off the mark. Crossfire never mounted an offensive attack with 0 shots on frame. Score was deadlocked until 3 minutes left in the second half when Crossfire produce a flurry of action that culminated with a free kick that after bouncing around was finished into the net giving Crossfire the 1-0 advantage. As all great teams do, there was no panic. Emmy Owens, Maddie & Julie Hairston and Dani Brown and McKayla Creamer all had their opportunities but it was Dani who, in the end, found the equalizer as time was running out to give Sodium a point with the 1-1 tie.
The weekend gave Sodium 7 total points and place at the top of the Flight A Bracket.
Tom gave the girls an unprecedented amount of time off for Christmas (with the exception of futsol and Nike Elite Training) so enjoy everyone and I'll see you after the Holidays.
Until them remember; GO SODIUM!!
