WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS....MY FRIENDS

Sodium racks up it's 4th State Cup Championship by dishing out a 4-0 defeat of cross town rival OSSA Blue (who I might add is part of Crossfire now). Goals were scored by Eli Beard, Dani Brown, Sydney Van Steenberge and Elly Williamson.

These warriors came out with a plan and executed it. They took apart the OSSA defense with precision and speed.

In a more somber note, well wishes and prayers go out to the Brown family as Dani suffered a compound fracture in the match this afternoon. I'm sure you can feel free to reach out to them and they will appreciate it. Dani has been an integral part of the Sodium team for years and this was her firat State Cup Championship with the squad. We wish nothing less than the best and a speedy recovery along with many, many well wishes, thoughts and prayers.

To the present, the future and beyond. GO SODIUM!!

Championship Weekend

After posting impressive wins in the 2013 State Cup play offs, Sodium will take on cross town rivals OSSA Blue for the Oregon Sate Cup Championship on Saturday at 12:30pm at THPRD Field #4.

Sodium has met OSSA in several championship matchs in the past. But this year, as in others, if all are healthy, Sodium has the advantage.

The Sodium squad has posted many tournament championships this year. Has many players committed, or near committed, to several D1, D2 or D3 schools. They are riding high after winning winter OPL league.

If the ladies take the pitch with the attitude and swagger of the championship team they are, there is not a team in Oregon that can match them. This could easily be your last time to prove just how good you are. This could easily be the last Championship match you all play together. This could easily be Sodiums last great Hoorah before these warriors move on to the next the next level, the next chapter, of their lives. How will the the last paragraph be written Sodium? How will the last 'T' be crossed, the last 'i' be dotted? What legacy will you leave behind for other THUSC teams to follow?

It is all up to you now......

From deep in our hearts, as we always have, we believe in you.     GO SODIUM!!

Final league games

Saturday against OSSA White seemed to be a scoring fest. I was not there personally and the poor people who were trying to send me updates finally just said "I think it's 7..." So, great job ladies! Sunday against EMFC was a very exciting match with Sodium remaining undefeated behind the sure booted Laura Camp who knotted the score with a rocket inside the far post on a set piece. Late in the match Willy Williamson solidified Sodiums spot on top when she ripped the far net with a blast from 20 yards out. Great effort from those on the pitch!

OPL Winter League Standings:
1. THUSC
2. OSSA Blue
3. FC Portland
4. EMFC
5. PCU Impact
6. OSSA White

NOTES:
Looks like both Sodium and Onyx swept through league undefeated this year.
As we gear up towards USYS Premier League National Tournament, Surf Cup, United Cup, Spain and others, please watch your inboxes for updates and info requests from Caryn and Paul and make every effort to get them the info in a timely manner so they can move the process forward. Thanks!

Muffled behind the umbrellas blocking the sideways rain at Lane CC the Sodium faithful yell: GO SODIUM!!

In Vegas, Always bet on Black.......

GIRLS U17 MANDALAY BAY

Team

1: TUALATIN HILLS UNITED SC SODIUM (OR)
2: VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC (CND)
3: LA ROCA FC LA ROCA PREMIER - AB (UT)
4: LAGUNA HILLS ECLIPSE EAST 95/96 (CAS)
5: BEACH FC BLACK (FKA EXILES BLACK) (CAS)
6: LEAHI SC '96 PREMIER (HI)
7: ALBION SC WHITE (CAS)
8: PACIFIC NORTHWEST SC 95 MAROON (WA)

Numbers 3 thru 8 above may change, but #1 is set in stone!

The ladies came out of the gate on fire and handed the currently undefeated Vancouver Whitecaps a decisive 4-1 defeat.
Scoring came early and often as Laura Camp took the corner and headed it in at about the 2 minute mark! Jadyn McMillan followed suite with a spectacular effort to bring the tally to 2-0. Laura Camp was not finished as she lined up her set piece and blistered the back of the net! A questionable second half call that consisted of a Whitecap forward kicking the ball from the hands of Sodium keeper Kylee Coon. Moments later Aliyah Chance made them pay by taking a wonderful feed from Juliana Hairston to put the exclamation point on a beautifully execute match and giving Sodium a 4-1 victory and sole possession of the #1 spot.

Congratulations ladies on giving Vagas a little exposure to Sodium Style play. Rumor has it there were over 100 coaches throughout the weekend who stolled by to watch the ladies in black strut their stuff on the Vegas pitch. We are very proud of each and every one you.

With heads held high, Sodium players, parents and fans alike scream; GO SODIUM!!

Vegas Showcase Day 2 wrap up

Well, the girls came out like they'd had a hard night at the craps table (according to eye-witnesses) and let the PacNW team hand them a 3-1 thumping. Dani Brown scored the only goal in the contest.

The night cap proved the girls can bounce back as they dished out a little Sodium payback. Mackenzie Kearny scored from the spot on a PK to open up the contest and Juliana Hairston capped things off with a second half score. La Roca FC managed a late header on a corner to bring the final to 2-1 in favor of Sodium. The girls are now #2 in the Mandala Bay bracket

UP NEXT:
Sodium takes on #1 Vancouver Whitecaps FC (CND) @ 11:00am for bracket supremacy. It looks like whoever wins will take position of the #1 spot.

From the brisk temperature & morning sunshine the fans will cheer; GO SODIUM!!

Opening match update

The girls hit the showcase running with an impressive 3-1 victory over Leahi Premier. Scoring began in the 12th minute as Juliana Hairston found the net. Leahi quickly countered to knot the score. Before the break Sydney Van Steenberg took a long feed from defender Taylor Coon to the put Sodium back on top.
The second was a defensive battle but again Juliana Hairston rose above the crowd to give the Sodium squad a 3-1 victory.

NEXT UP;
PACNW SC 95 MAROON (who got beat 6-1 by Beach FC)

From under the umbrellas in P-town the Sodium faithful yell: GO SODIUM!!

Weekend Wrap Up

In preparation for the upcoming Vegas Showcase the ladies racked up a pair of wins this weekend; Saturday
Versus PCU Impact, Sodium notched a 6-1 victory. "With a little help from your friends" was the theme song saturday as a ton of Onyx players guest played for a Sodium team depleted by injuries, college visits, SAT's and DECA testing. What also added to the fire was a 1-0 deficit at half-time. Would have loved to be a fly-on-wall at THAT half-time peptalk. (O_0)

Sunday
Versus OSSA Blue, a team Sodium has battled for Oregon supremacy since U11. This gamed proved to be another great example of these two talented squads. Punctuated by superior keeper play from both squads, team Sodium walked away with a 3-0 victory, but it was not an easy taste by any stretch. Goals came in the form of a PK taken by Mia (Guest player Onyx) in the first half, Maddie (Guest player Iridium) and Sodium's own Kerrie Cook, both the second half.

The victory gives Sodium sole possession of first place in OPL Winter League. Nice job ladies! Click HERE for the schedule.

NEXT UP:
VEGAS BABY! - Good luck to the coaches, players and parents who make the trek to the desert. Show well ladies!

Watching the brackets and expecting twitter updates, the parents/fans back home will scream; GO SODIUM!!

EMFC comes to town

In what we've all come to expect when these two teams take the pitch, a physical, aggressive Magic team was true to form at Powerlines this morning. Sodium jumped to a early 2-0 lead off of a beautiful Dani Brown finish tee'd up by Julie Hairston and a rocket from Jadyn McMillan that skipped off the wet grass, off the keepers shoulder and in.

The remaining 75 minutes was a folly of bad calls, screaming coaches, injuries and Sodium emerging with a 2-1 victor. I would say Sodium had the edge in possession but I won't mention things like pushes from behind, players not making any attempts to go for the ball, just the opposing player, slide tackles into our keeper, a yellow card issued AFTER the half-time whistle blew and many, many other infractions (some called, most not) that are just part of the program when EMFC comes to town.

NEXT UP:
Saturday 3/9 vs PCU IMPACT @ Buckman Field at 11:00am
Sunday 3/10 vs OSSA 95 Blue @ REC #2 at 1:00pm

Getting Caught Up

Wow, has it been forever since I last updated or what? Anyway, to catch everyone up;

The last five games the girls have really picked up the pace.
OSSA White 0, Sodium 4
PCU Impact 0, Sodium 6
DA Minnesota Team 1, Sodium 8
OSSA Blue 0, Sodium 0
FC Portland 0, Sodium 3

As you can see both the offense and defense have stepped up their games with 21 GF, 1 GA.

NOTES:
The scoring has been spread nicely with a couple hat-tricks thrown in for good measure. Defense has been solid as ever.

I am going to start posting colleges who are interested in Sodium players. No specifics, just the colleges themselves to show the diversity of the players who have graced the pitch for Sodium and earned a spot at the next level. We all know not every player has their sites set on playing in college and for those players we wish them just as much success as they move forward into the next phases of their lives.

U17 year is a trying year, most are Juniors in high school and are bombarded with many important decisions. Don't hesitate ladies to call on your teammates. They have had your back through thick and thin and will be valuable resources in many ways in the future.

NEXT UP:
Sun 3/3 11:00am @ Powerlines #3 vs EMFC Magic.

TOURNAMENTS:
Looks like Vegas and Surf are on the horizon. Look for updates from Caryn and Paul as these tournaments approach.

As we have for many years, the Sodium faithful scream: GO SODIUM!!
